The Ocean Data Portal (ODP) provides a “one-stop shop” approach to oceanographic data held by the IODE (International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange programme of IOC UNESCO) global network of 80 National Oceanographic Data Centres (NODCs), as well as to resources from other participating systems. The ODP provides infrastructure to integrate collections and inventories of marine data and allow for the directory, evaluation and access to data via web services to meet the needs of the whole ocean community - facilitate seamless access to marine data/services and to promote the exchange and dissemination of marine data and services.
From informational point of view the ODP provides the integration and on-line access to the data and services including:
- Disciplines: oceanography, marine meteo and other categories in the context of ODP requirements;
- Data format: alphabetic-numeric data, images and documents, spatial data;
- Processing level: observation data, climate data, analysis and forecast data;
- Temporal level: real-time (up to 7 days from the observations), delay-mode and historical data (more than 7 days after the observations);
- Data source types: data files, databases, web- and geo-services.
